Rosetree Events | Light of Hope Gala of Hope 2017, Minneapolis Marriott Southwest

We always look forward to the Light of Hope Gala, but this year was extra special for us because we were the MCs! We were shaking in our heels leading up to the day, but it was so much fun!

If you aren’t familiar with this Minnesota-based non-profit organization, “Light of Hope is a home and school that provides refuge, restoration, and redirection for the abandoned, impoverished, or abused girls in Kenya. They provide shelter, quality education, training, and counseling in a supportive Christian family environment in order to enable them to live independently and emerge as leaders to the community.”

The annual fundraising gala brings an incredible variety of people together to celebrate the journey & success of this impactful organization.

The decor each year is, of course, a highlight for us. Because the organization supports education in Kenya, Africa, we wanted to weave in some understated African inspiration.  Using gorgeous neutral taupe as our anchor, we planned for pops of greenery from palm leaves with subtle additions of orange protea and fuschia stock.  It was sophisticated, organic and elegant- while also being cost effective (which is always important for non-profit organizations).

All of the food was displayed beautifully.  Catering efforts often go unphotographed, so we were thrilled that Kelly was able to capture all of the various artisan’s creativity! From the delicious plated meal to the scrumptious chocolates and flavorful popcorn, the menu was a highlight of the evening!

In addition to all the fun, pretty and yummy things, the event had 360 guests in attendance and successfully raised over $165,000 for the 95 girls that call Light of Hope home!

We felt so honored to be involved in the planning & execution of this event and can’t wait to see what next year has in store!

Be sure to check out our blog post about last year’s gala here. And to read more about Light of Hope’s mission, be sure to check out their site here.

Modern Matrimony, as seen in Dainty Obsessions

This beautiful modern wedding inspiration editorial shoot was featured in the last issue of Dainty Obsessions (Fall/Winter), and we’re finally getting around to sharing it here on our blog! We LOVED this shoot so much! Not only was the venue perfection, but the color palette was fantastic! Creating the design was super fun. We mixed so many unique textures and elements to create something really contemporary, modern and vibrant.  There is a misconception that modern sometimes means devoid of color, but that couldn’t be less true in our experience!

First, let’s talk about the florals. Oh. My.Goodness!  First, this bouquet was incredibly unique. The variety in color & texture gave the garden style bouquet incredible dimension, and it was oh so swoon worthy. Any bouquet that includes peonies or orchids tends to make us fall in love but paired with thistle, greenery, hyacinth and scabiosa; it was over the top amazing.

Second, let’s talk about the attire!  The two ballgown style wedding gowns were so lovely. The addition of the gold sash to the one shoulder silk, ivory gown was stunning.  And dress number two in black had us awestruck. The exquisite texture and modernized sweetheart neckline were striking.   For the groom, a modern navy blue suit paired beautifully with the ivory gown (and loved the floral patterned bowtie for a fun twist). And a tie-less black tux was an on-point pairing for the black gown.

Third, let’s talk about the yarn! What a FUN design element to incorporate. We had a custom yard backdrop created for the ceremony, as well as a multi-color yarn chandelier to hang over the guest table. It was as far from traditional as you could get and added whimsy to the overall design.

Last, we can’t leave without noting the super cool copper chairs, acrylic menu cards, and funky patterned linen runner. Although each element was a slightly eclectic choice individually, it tied together more beautifully that we initially anticipated! And, we can’t forget to mention that our ever faithful, and adorable, mascot, Mila only added to the awesomeness of the shoot. We love her so!

Which element is your favorite? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Leave us a comment!

Rosetree Weddings | Chad and Brett’s Tilia Linden Hills Wedding

When we first met Chad and Brett, we knew they were going to be one of our favorite couples of all time. They were so charismatic, full of vibrant energy, and their love for each other was undeniable. The simplistic elegance of their wedding plans was something unlike we’ve ever seen.

Chad and Brett were focused on having the people they loved most take part in their union, so they invited 65 of their closest friends to join them at Tilia, a local restaurant in Linden Hills/Minneapolis.

The evening began with a brief social hour inside the restaurant, where the grooms mingled with their guests over a glass of champagne. Just before the ceremony was to begin, everyone gathered in the nearby alleyway, standing in a circle around Chad and Brett. The ceremony was beautifully emotional, and the two said “I Do” with another champagne toast and the largest wedding selfie we’ve ever seen!

Immediately following the ceremony, guests participated in a speed round of photos with Chad and Brett, while Tilia passed delicious gourmet appetizers and drinks. Dinner took place inside the cozy restaurant, where you could hear happy conversation and lots of laughter. It was obvious that every person there held a special place in Chad & Brett’s hearts, and it was beautiful to see.

Before the dance began, guests went back outside to the alley to have donuts and an informal “roast” of the newlyweds, although no one had anything but nice things to say! The evening wrapped up with a lively dance reception, complete with some of the couple’s favorite late night snacks.

We love weddings of all shapes and sizes, but this one was one of our favorites. We love you, Chad & Brett! Wishing you all the best that married life brings, and thank you for choosing Rosetree to be a part of your big day!

Rosetree Wedding | Haley & Matt’s Hope Glen Farm Reception, As Seen in The Knot Mn

When we can marry OUR love of planning/coordination with styling and design, we’re over the moon. Creating a wedding design is one of our favorite services we offer.  Sometimes a design idea hits us, and we aren’t able to implement it until the right couple comes along. Haley and Matt were that couple for us!

Haley & Matt actually had an intimate elopement in Hawaii about a year before this event. A few months following their private ceremony, they hosted a large reception in Minneapolis. This event was an opportunity to gather friends that were unable to attend either of the previous two celebrations. You could say that Haley and Matt were not ready to let the love-filled festivities come to an end. And we can’t blame them. Post-wedding planning depression is real!

Bringing this European countryside vineyard design with elements of rustic charm and vintage flair for Haley & Matt’s day to fruition was a dream come true (and in just three months too!). It isn’t often that we can truly take an idea and run with it. But the couple put all of their trust in us and told us to do as wish! So, from the suspended chandelier installation that we dreamed up to the elaborate cheese cake display, each element was created with the design theme in mind.  It was all about creating a unique ambiance with not-so-subtle European inspiration.

There is something to be said for intimate wedding receptions that don’t miss a detail. Sometimes the only way to get exactly what you want (design wise) is by pairing down your guest list. Since this was technically celebration number three, Haley & Matt wanted to host their guests at a venue that said “countryside cozy” with gorgeous decor and delicious food- which made Hope Glen Farm the perfect setting. With more than five vendors lending a hand in the food & dessert service, we knew that there would be something for everyone! And we had a stellar team assembled for decor too! Annie Berndt Designs created the most beautiful custom installations for reception decor,  Apres & A Vintage Touch had the perfect inventory for setting up the lounge areas and creating beautiful family style tables, and Lake Harriet Florist created jaw-droppingly beautiful garlands, Haley’s head wreath and wildflower inspired bouquet.

We’re so proud of how the wedding reception design of this event turned out. Plus, It was super laid-back and enjoyable for the couple. Putting everything in our hands meant that it was no-pressure, no-fuss, all-about-love event. Which, doesn’t always happen (but should). It was an incredible honor and oh so humbling to see their love story featured in the latest issue of The Knot Minnesota (insert giddy happy dance everytime we think about it)!

Light of Hope Gala

There are a handful of organizations that we, in both a professional and personal capacity, support. Light of Hope Kenya is one of them. If you aren’t familiar with this incredible organization, here is a quick overview:

“In a part of the world too often defined by poverty, there sits an oasis of optimism and faith. This is Light of Hope, a home and school for girls that provides for the needs of more than 60 Kenyan girls. Located on 15 acres in Naivasha, Kenya, Light of Hope exists to end the cycles of poverty, abandonment, and abuse for the young girls it serves.

Recognizing that education is the key to opportunity, Light of Hope offers quality schooling in a safe and secure, Christian environment where necessities such as food, medicine and clothing are provided.

The essence of Light of Hope lies in healing hearts and minds. Caregivers who offer guidance and emotional support surround the residents of Light of Hope, and teach important life skills like cooking, gardening, and self-care. These skills, in turn, enable the young girls of Light of Hope to embrace a future of self-sufficiency.

Refuge, Restoration, and Redirection: This is the Light of Hope”

We had the honor of coordinating and designing last year’s annual gala. This year, we have the honor to also MC the event! We’re ONE short week away from 15th annual The Light of Hope Gala! This year’s gala will be hosted on Saturday, March 11th from 5:30 PM-11:00 PM at Minneapolis Marriott Southwest.

We would be honored to have your support and presence for this year’s event. You can purchase your ticket here: https://lightofhopekenya.salsalabs.org/gala2017/index.html

Rosetree Wedding | Stacy & Brent, Hyatt Regency Minneapolis Wedding

Stacy and Brent’s Hyatt Regency Minneapolis Jewish wedding was a blast! These two people are so in love and have huge hearts.

If it’s one thing we can almost always count on for Jewish weddings, it’s that they’re fun, funky (and we truly mean that as a term of endearment) and have loads of character!

Stacy and Brent selected our Lillian Package.  From concept to fruition, this couple wanted their stamp on every detail, and we were able to achieve that for them.

The bride was a vision in her ruffled ballgown- which she later added a rhinestone sash and straps to for the reception.

Brent was overcome with emotion during the first look. If they weren’t beaming with excitement, they were weeping tears of joy.

The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis was both their ceremony and reception venue. They held a traditional Jewish ceremony in one ballroom, followed by a reception with delicious food (yay for donuts) and epic entertainment in another. We LOVED helping Stacy with the color choices and design theme for their wedding. From the periwinkle bridesmaid’s dresses to the colorful pink-hued blooms of dahlias, succulents, garden roses and greenery they carried- to the bold patterned table linen – every element was show-stoppingly perfect! They really embraced Summer, while keeping the anchor elements classic, yet modern. It was important to Stacy that it felt like a party but still exuded an elegant vibe. The black linen was the perfect twist on the traditional and the colors made the decor exciting & eye catching!

The couple had a ketubah made special for their ceremony (which now hangs in their home) and a portion of Stacy’s mother’s wedding dress was actually sew into their Chuppah! The sentiment was incredibly touching.

We know these two have a lifetime of laughter in their future and we wish them all the best on the wonderful journey of weddings. Mazel Tov!

Rosetree Wedding | Bridget & Riley’s Minneapolis Wedding, Calhoun Beach Club

Not only was Bridget and Riley’s Minneapolis wedding stunningly gorgeous from start to finish, but these two were a breathtaking vision of love and joy.

After a tearfully sweet first look with her dad, Bridget was ready for her first look with Riley. The nervous energy was almost tangible and she made her way to him, with her bridesmaids looking on!  They shared the sweetest exchange and soaked in the moment during couple’s photos.

They held their traditional ceremony at the Basilica- where Bridget walked down their seemingly mile-long aisle to meet her groom (we love a grand entrance, and the Basilica delivers on that opportunity!). Her beautiful cathedral length veil floated ever so delicately behind her as she walked arm and arm with her dad. After vow, it was time to get the party on!

They selected the lovely Calhoun Beach Club for their reception. This venue has such a beautiful, ethereal quality (white chivaris, high ceilings, crystal embellished chandeliers, lots of windows and mirrors, and that staircase too!) while being a touch traditional and refined. It’s a great choice for traditional weddings, as well as something a bit more whimsical because the existing color palette is crisp and clean.

We adored this couple and were honored to partake in the wedding day! We wish the lovebirds nothing but the best in their journey as husband and wife!

Oh! Be sure to check out Brin’s (the photographer) version of the day here too!

Rosetree Weddings | Julie & Nic’s Minneapolis Club Wedding

We’ve all heard the saying “the devil’s in the details”… and although that may be true in some cases, details happen to be our jam! And when a couple comes to us with LOTS of ideas for amazing, unique details, we are on board 100%!  Julie and Nic’s Minneapolis Club travel inspired wedding was just that.

Nic is Dutch and it was important to the couple to incorporate that. As soon as guests received their invitations, it was clear that this would be an incredibly special and festive occasion.

The couple sported some fancy dutch footwear, aka clogs. And their amazing food  (um, Filet and Scallops, yes please!) was definitely a tribute as well from the mimosa station to the candy bar, each item was thoughtfully selected and delicious.

Each of the tables was named after a destination and was adorned with a lovely centerpiece created with succulents, roses, dusty miller, orchids and a variety of greenery. Purple, grey and green is a beautiful combination!

They also had a caricature artist set-up during the cocktail hour + reception – this was a fantastic activity and a really fun favor for guests to take home!

If you want to check out the photographer’s blog too, here is the link! They included a ton more pictures not seen below, and we’re doing the same on Instagram, so don’t forget to follow us there as well.

Wedding Planning Tips for the Newly Engaged

You may have heard the phrase “engagement season” a time of two. And you may or may not know what that means. You’re likely spending hours on the various wedding websites/blog out there, browsing Instagram and Pinterest for ideas, checking reviews on Facebook for the vendor’s you’re interested in and perhaps even feeling a little overloaded.  You may have a clear picture of what’s ahead, or you may be swimming in ideas and feel so lost that you just want to wait a few more days or weeks to dive back in. We get it.  We have a few tips for you to keep the wedding planning manageable and on track…

First-CONGRATULATIONS!

Second– Relax, enjoy and have fun during this brief period. It is short lived. Whether you’re engaged for six months or 3 years, this time in your life with your fiance is fleeting. You should take the opportunity to soak it all in.

Third– Determine if you’re a DIY type couple or a too busy (but still excited) for this couple- knowing your expectations, aspirations, and limitations during this time are so important in this process. The experience should be enjoyed. So understanding what you do and don’t want from the process is important for a myriad of reasons- including selecting your vendors, setting a budget, determining a guest list, deciding who to include in your bridal party, etc.

Fourth– Make a guest list. This is SO important. Your guest list dictates where you can get married, and in many ways, helps you set a realistic budget. The two are intertwined.

Fifth– Set a budget. Make a list of the elements of the day that are important to you- decor, music, food, dress, etc..

Sixth– Contact a wedding planner (you’re reading this, so high-five to you for being ahead of the game). Although your venue and dress are usually a couple’s first major commitments, speaking with a planner will help you gain clarity. Even if you don’t think you NEED a planner, someone who has worked with a variety of couples can give you insight that you may not have considered. Yes, your friends and family are an integral part of your decisions and planning, but you and your fiance are the ones getting married. And someone with an unbiased opinion is just what you need. Most planners, us included, have several package levels. From selecting your vendors (based on your budget) to full-service planning, there is an option for everyone.  We promise it will relieve a tremendous amount of stress for you.

Seventh– Take your time selecting the perfect venue, dress, florist, Dj, etc. But not too much (after all, this is the season when vendors get booked quickly). When it FEELS right, commit. It’s natural to want to shop around. But remember the feeling you had when you knew your other half was the one. You’ll likely feel something similar when you find the perfect vendor for the two of you. PS- make sure they’re licensed and insured. Trust us.

All this said, every couple is unique, and we encourage you to do what is right for you.  For all the weddings we’ve done over the years, the most important advice we can give is to be true to your relationship. Remember that this is the start of a lifetime together.  Despite any stress or worry, this occasion is a day to celebrate the most incredible gift anyone can experience. LOVE.

Rosetree Weddings|Favorite Weddings & Events of 2016

It’s natural for businesses to spend the last few weeks of the year reflecting on what has made the year memorable. Every Rosetree couple is incredibly unique and each one of their weddings holds a special place in our heart. Their love inspires us, motivates us, and brings us endless joy. Our lives are more rewarding and fulfilled because of this amazing work (if you could call it that). Our gratitude for everyone that crossed our paths in this journey is endless.  It seems that there are never quite enough “thank you’s” to be said to the couples that allow us to be part of their love story, and the vendors that help us make these wedding day visions a reality.

So with the closing of 2016, it only seemed right for us to share with you a few images that embody the year- the best of the best from this remarkable year. We suppose you could call them our favorites of 2016. It took hours of browsing through our fantastic portfolio of weddings and events to decide what to share (side note: we have a few that we can’t share with you just yet because we have something extra special planned for them). But we think we finally did it.

We can’t wait to see what this year holds in store for us- 2017 has a lot to live up to (we have a feeling it’s up to the challenge)!

Enjoy!
