Rosetree Weddings | Emily & Paul’s Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Wedding

It’s throw back time! Almost exactly one year ago, Emily & Paul held their wedding day at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory- a truly unique venue in St. Paul.

The couple selected a bold, dramatic color combination of red & black, with touches of white.  Her bridesmaids wore either short red cocktail style one shoulder dresses or a bold floral print full-length dress. The combination was striking! Emily’s dress was a stunning drop-waist lace and tulle low-back gown that looked so beautiful on her. She paired it with a cascading bouquet of red orchids, white peonies, and assorted lilies.

The duo’s ceremony was in the Sunken Garden (inside the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory)- a really spectacular, picturesque space ideal for the nature lover that wants an intimate option.

Following Emily & Paul’s intimate ceremony, was their reception at the Bullard Rainforest Auditorium. Which provides spectacular views of the Como Zoo grounds and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory tower gardens. It also has an adjoining terrace great for soaking in the sweeping views of the gorgeous grounds.

In addition to the ceremony guests, the reception was also attended by an adorable penguin (unexpected & much welcomed perk of getting married at a zoo)!

Decor was simple black and white, with the focus on laid-back fun and the venue’s naturally beautiful view.

It was a wonderful celebration and we’re thrilled for the couple!

Rosetree Wedding | Shari + Andrew

Shari + Andrew’s wedding was so adorable! Held at the contemporary Minneapolis Central Library, their wedding day was full of sweet emotions and simplistic touches. One of our favorite parts of this wedding was the groom’s wooden bow tie! Paired with a denim undershirt and a succulent boutonniere, Andrew’s attire was both casual and incredibly stylish. Their wedding included gorgeous florals from Ashley Fox Designs, delicious sweets from Mon Petit Cheri, and live bluegrass music from Sawtooth Brothers, resulting in a very personalized wedding day that we will forever cherish. Congratulations Shari + Andrew, we loved working with you on your wedding plans!

Rosetree Wedding | Mona + Lorzone

Hello Loves! We are SO excited to share Mona + Lorzone’s special day with you. This wedding was too unique for words!! Inspired by music festivals, the bride and groom wanted to incorporate a celebratory ambiance that was outdoorsy, open and fun for their guests. Because of their eclectic style, they didn’t have a specific theme or color scheme planned, but instead they focused on making sure their guests felt important and loved. “We wanted them to feel like they were coming to a party, not our wedding,” Mona said to Style Me Pretty (did you know we were featured on SMP!? Read the full post here)! Their outdoor ceremony was held at the gorgeous Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, followed by a reception at one of the most unique venues we’ve had the pleasure of working at: Uppercut Boxing Gym (yes, really)!

Mona + Lorzone, we couldn’t have been more thrilled to work with you on your wedding plans. Your day was so unique and special, just like the people that you are, and we hope that you are enjoying your married life together! xo

From Mona (the BEAUTIFUL bride):

Our tastes in music, fashion, and lifestyle can be really eclectic so it was really hard trying to channel just one theme or style. We basically pulled our inspiration from everything we loved and because we didn’t have a certain theme or color scheme we were following, I wasn’t sure how everything was going to piece together. It really didn’t matter though. Ultimately, we wanted our wedding to reflect who we were and how important each of our attendees were to us (wedding party included!). We wanted them to feel like it was as much a part of their day as it was ours and focus on how their support for us really helped make our long distance relationship persevere.

We both love attending music festivals and were really inspired by them for our wedding. More so on ambiance than style elements. We wanted to bring that kind of outdoorsy, open, fun, and unified atmosphere we’ve experienced from the festivals by creating a celebratory vibe for our guests. We wanted them to feel like they were coming to their party, not our wedding. For this, we knew our main focus was going to be the venues, everything else would be secondary.

For our ceremony site, we went with the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The greenery and the maze-like hedges gave us kind of a cool Alice in Wonderland feel, which we loved. The greenhouse also provided for a beautiful backdrop for our photos. For our reception venue, we wanted something with an open feel; something that didn’t feel too formal but had a unique style on its own and could really stand out devoid decorations. In addition to that, we needed a space large enough to accommodate 450-500 guests!

We had visited a few locations prior to the Uppercut Boxing Gym, and had a few more scheduled to view, but knew immediately that we would hold our reception there as soon as we walked in. The Boxing Gym is just such a cool space; and large! The exposed beams, the warehouse front, and graffitied courtyard really made it hard to pass. The venue is a statement on its own so we the rest of our décor followed quite nicely.

As much as our focus was on our guests and those around us, the times we had on our own, whether it was for photos or video shots, were still really special. Our first dance, actually, was quite nostalgic. It reminded me so much of the night we first met 8 years ago (9 years now)! We shared a dance the first night we met and just like our first wedding dance, everyone around us just kind of disappeared. For a short moment, it was just again, alone in the world. Moments like that are always so powerful and such a great testament to our faith.

All in all, the moments we shared with friends and family who traveled distances to celebrate with us; the smiles that were captured; knowing how hard our vendors worked and then seeing them out on the dance floor with everyone; the food; the love; the speeches; the perfect weather; the rip in my dress; the mishaps; and the 450 bodies that came in and out were all favorite moments that Lorzone and I will cherish forever. We will always live this night through and through with our video that Chris from Sky Focus Films captured so perfectly.

The Solar Arts Building by Chowgirls is a new venue in Northeast Minneapolis, and we were honored to have been the first to capture a styled shoot in their space. This kind of styled shoot could not have happened without everyone working together as a team, and we were so lucky to have had such a fantastic team of vendors who were not only crazy talented but also a whole lot of fun! We LOVED the vintage heart birdcage, vintage furniture and other fun props and details that were graciously provided to us by Sarah of On Solid Ground Vintage Rentals. The mixture of purple and pink hues with the antique furniture pieces is definitely a must-have look this season! In addition to photographing this amazing styled shoot, Christina of Electric Lime crafted the bride’s crystal beaded bracelets and chose the rest of the bridal accessories to complete the look. Molly from Studio Emme shared her many design talents with us, including dressing up the birdcage with a lush floral garland, the amazing bouquet and the custom invitations.

We are obsessed with adding personal touches to our styled shoots, and this one was no exception. Yes, of course we are talking about our two furry friends! The papillon (aka the cutie with the big ears that stick up) is Vesper Lynd, Christina’s very own little girl. The cocker spaniel puppy, Mila, is Janea’s pride and joy!

MN Wedding Planner | Surpise Beach Elopement

Surprise elopement inspiration shoot with gorgeous pink peonies, vintage yellow truck and a real vow renewal performed…..um, YES!!! With summer here, we just had to share with you this gorgeous shoot we did with one of the most adorable couples we know, Kelly & Pat! While it looked picturesque, we waited over an hour or two for the rain to pass as we tried to set up the beach for the shoot. {typical Minnesota weather} As the skies began to clear, our sweet couple sauntered out for their moment to shine. Not shy of the camera, these two were simply adorable. The flowers were SO amazingly gorgeous and bright that we all felt we had traveled to somewhere tropical and perfect for summer time. You can read more about the inspirational side of the elopement shoot on the Wedding Chicks.

During the planning of this shoot, Kelly & Pat asked if they could renew their vows. Since we had a bonafide pastor already scheduled for the shoot, we agreed immediately. (What can we say, we are both hopeless romantics) Peace came over the lake as Kelly and Pat repeated their hand written vows to each other. Not one of the guests (vendors & friends) had a dry as we watched these two express their love for eachother.

MN Wedding Planner | A Day In Provence Floral | Vendor Spotlight

Hello Loves,

Rain has been evident here in Minnesota and all over the country and when April & May showers rain down, June’s flowers are bright, giddy and strong. With the talk of beautiful flowers, we are excited to bring you Tara, from A Day in Provence. We had the pleasure of working with Tara on a gorgeous style shoot/surprise proposal.  She has an eye for all things floral and has yet to let us down with her charming ways about her and her floral styling.

Tell us a little bit about you and your business.
A Day in Provence is a floral & styling boutique continuously inspired by all things floral and french, vintage and beautiful.  I love doing what I do each day & feel really grateful to have my own business in such a fun loving, creative urban area.

Having a creative team to work with & an incredibly supportive team at home makes our day to day details a bit easier.  My husband and I have two daughters who brighten our world & an Airedale Terrier named Finnegan.

A Day in Provence Floral_0049

How did you begin your journey towards being a Florist?
The journey began years ago when my husband and I left our corporate careers & moved to Europe for nearly a year.  I was in search of a new adventure, never dreaming I’d someday have a business of my own.  I dabbled in flowers while living in Paris – stopping at flower shops of every kind & designing back at our apartment in the 6th arrondissement.

And a trip to Provence during that timeframe was oh so inspiring.  The delightful food, pottery, fresh lavender & cobblestone streets…the focus on beauty in everyday life was a little something we wanted to bring back home with us.  We moved back home to Minnesota months after & I started A Day in Provence one year later.

What is your favorite thing about being in your line of business?
I love the variety.  Each wedding & event is treated like a brand new project for us.  We never create the same thing twice.  I also love the creative design aspects – the inspiration boards, the floral & ribbon selections, styling, and designing the floral pieces.

What is one thing you don’t forget to tell your clients?
“You can relax now.  We’ll take good care of you.”

If you weren’t in the Floral industry, what would you like to do?
Ooh, this is tough, as I love this creative event industry.  I’d maybe be a travel blogger or photographer documenting highlights of travels from around the world as my suitcase is always packed and ready to go!

Or, I always thought there would be such good energy working on a beautiful college campus…with students eager to learn & ready to take on the world.  I could see myself working with students prepping to study abroad – such a life changing experience for me & is what officially started both my love for travel & never ending love for Europe!

How many weddings do you take on each year? And, how far in advance should clients book with you for their wedding?
We generally take on just under 30 weddings annually with peak season occurring from May – October.  We have wedding clients booking with us anywhere from 6-12 months out.

If you could make an arrangement for someone famous, who would that be?
Well, one of our floral career highlights was meeting & designing for the beautifully talented Julie Andrews in Saint Paul a few years ago.  I’m not sure I can top that one (and she would have been high on my list to begin with, et voilà!).  I mean, how lucky can a girl get? MN Wedding Planner | a&bè bridal shop | Vendor Spotlight

Hello Loves,

Today is a perfect day for a trip downtown to the chic bridal store, a&bè; but if you can’t go there in person, fret not, we’ll take you there by way of virtual transit. Not only is this store filled with all kinds of unique, delicate and swoon-worthy bridal dresses but you are surrounded by all different kinds of lovelies: bridal gowns, jewelry, accessories and of course the a&bè bridal team. The passion to serve their clients is quite evident the moment you step into their shop and have we said how much FUN they are?!?!?!  Jordan Krause, the MN a&bè store manager,  tells us like it is!

Tell us a little bit about you and your business.

First and foremost, a&bé supports the up & coming, the indie, the creative bridal designers and connects them to brides. Secondly, a&bé gives brides access to something different: we have a little bit of the bohemian, the casual, the vintage, the separates, the alternative & the romantic.

How did you begin your journey towards a&bé?

a&bé bridal shop is a new boutique created to support the creative surge happening in weddings across the nation. a&bé is an easy, no-fuss experience for brides who want a more laid back approach to their wedding dress shopping.

a&be bridal Shop_0012a&be bridal Shop_0007a&be bridal Shop_0035

How early should clients purchase their dress?

Generally, at least 7-9 months in advance! The gowns can range in the length of production time and then clients should factor in additional time for alterations. Plus, so many decisions hinge on the gown choice so until the dress is selected many other decisions are put on hold.

What are some of the great designers that you carry?

I love all of our designers and what’s cool is that we are bringing so many of them to Minnesota for the first time! These include: Truvelle, Anna Campbell, Sarah Seven, Katie May, Claire La Faye, Elizabeth Dye, and Rue De Seine!

a&be bridal Shop_0027 a&be bridal Shop_0026 a&be bridal Shop_0021a&be bridal Shop_0018

What is one thing you don’t forget to tell your clients?

Thank you! We truly appreciate every single one of our brides! We feel really honored to be invited to be a part of their wedding experience.

What is your favorite thing about being in your line of business?

There are so many things that I love about this business, but it probably comes down to the people. I get to work with the most awesome people every day. And these people include our brides, our designers, and our team – all passionate, caring, and creative women.

What makes a&bè stand out?

It’s our combination of designers, the aesthetic of our space, and our fun, friendly experience!

If you could fit someone famous for a dress, who would that be?

Zooey Deschanel! I love her quirky style!

MN Wedding Planner | Brunch Wedding at Theodore Wirth Chalet

Hello loves,

As the snow melts in Minnesota, the signs of spring are budding all around and the longing of warm summer days are just within reach. The Theodore Wirth Park Chalet in Minneapolis was the perfect backdrop for an adorable couple and a non-traditional brunch time wedding. The bride walked down the aisle in a timeless dress and showcased a custom designed handmade wedding ring by her dad, owner of Artelle Designs. On her wedding day, her parents also surprised the bride with a gorgeous art deco inspired bracelet that was made with her dad’s loving hands. Matt and Dani picked their favorite breakfast foods to have for their first meal. (Who doesn’t love donuts at weddings!) And instead of a traditional cake, St. Paul’s favorite ice cream, Izzy’s, was served with delectable goodies. As guests licked their ice cream before it melted, this sweet couple danced the first dance with only each other in sight. Their love is clearly evident and their families and friends had the best time celebrating them!

“This is love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other love.” ~ Carrie Bradshaw

MN Wedding Planner | Rosetree Wedding at James J. Hill Library

Hello Loves,

This wedding ceremony was far from traditional and matched our couples personality to a T. Jessica was stunning in gorgeous lace wedding dress and Robert looked like a dapper Marlo Brandon with hat to boot. The bride made her entrance down a beautiful staircase and the couple celebrated their first kiss with a champagne toast with all of their friends and loved ones. Love was in the air and touched us all. Irving Park was a picture perfect backdrop for the ceremony with a quaint gazebo for the couple to share their first dance. From a unique park ceremony to their homemade table runners made of sheet music, Jessica and Robert had a beautiful day and finished off the evening at the James J. Hill Library where they had decadent desserts by Ganache Desserts & Confections.

MN Wedding Planner | Rosetree Wedding at Millennium Gardens

Hello Loves,

To bring a little sunshine your way and to forget about these rainy days, we thought we would remember a glorious wedding day filled with the sun shining, warmth and of course LOVE. Kyle & Chayna were so fun, sweet and easy going. Plymouth Creek Center & Millennium Gardens in Plymouth, MN are considered perfect for weddings where nature is the backdrop and the view is breathtaking. We adore the bride’s “something blue” puma’s and the beautiful necklaces and clutches given to each one of her bridesmaids. The necklaces were a lovely touch to the coral dresses donned day of. If the floral outside was beautiful enough for the guest, when they walked into the venue they were in awe with the gorgeous centerpieces La Petite Fleur created for their wedding day.
