Wedding Party Gifts for your Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

Finding the perfect gift for your bridesmaids and groomsmen (as well as your brides men and grooms gals) doesn’t have to be a chore. We know the options can be overwhelming, so we’ve assembled a quick reference list to spark your imagination.

Many couples forget to budget for this expense, so we’ll give you a tip now! We recommend that a bridesmaids/groomsmen gift be in the range of $50-$150. It is a big investment in time and money to be a member of a bridal party. And of course, your friends/family are more than happy to be a participant on such a major moment in your life. But, showing your appreciation with thanks and a token is not just good etiquette, but what you should do for these wonderful people in your life (you know they would do the same).

In our experience, there are two gifting categories that are always a hit.

  • Wearables
  • Consumables

When it comes to wearables, think along the lines of something thoughtful/sentimental,  useful and/or personalized. Some items can check off all the boxes, which makes it a sure fire hit for your crew/tribe/posse.

When it comes to consumables, we don’t necessarily mean food or beverage, but those are a great place to start! We’re speaking more of a generalization for something that should be used quickly.

Groomsmen/Best Man

Bar Items

One of our all time favorite groomsmen gifts is this decanter by Groovy Guy Gifts.  This beauty is refined and dignified. It looks amazing on the kitchen counter, on a bar cart or as a display piece on a bookshelf.  We’re actually pretty obsessed with ours and use it often! It’s a classic item with lots of personality.

To really elevate this gift, consider also including a favorite adult beverage to be used with said decanter.

Accessories

Perhaps you have a crew of dudes that like to dress in stylish, dapper perfection. From cufflinks to money clips, a gentleman can appreciate a solid piece of metal. Ha!  This trio is a fantastic choice. The items are versatile, customizable and work great for both everyday use + wedding festivities.

If you’re a “shop local” supporter and prefer to browse for something in person, one of our favorite local shops is Woodchuck USA  – they have awesome bottle openers!

We’re partial to businesses that offer a stellar product and phenomenal service- so, of course, considering the team at Groovy Guy Gifts is amazing, we’re pretty sure you don’t need to look any further! 😉

Bridesmaid/Maid of Honor

Robe, Shirt, Tank or Romper

As we’ve mentioned,  a wearable item is always a hit and of course, makes for adorable photos. We adore Show Me Your MuMu robes. They’re SO pretty and romantic. And come in a ton of great patterns and colors.
Screenshot 2017-08-12 15.19.27

To give these gifts a little extra “oompf”,  personalize it! Just keep this in mind-the downside to something monogrammed or personalized with a role versus a name, is that it may not be worn again.  Your bestie loves you, but she’s likely not going to wear her adorable “maid of honor” tank out to run errands. However, one that says “Sarah” or “Bestie” is much more usable in the long run.

Jewelry

Just about every lady we know can appreciate a tasteful accessory. Be it a bracelet, pair of earrings, necklace or hair piece, it’s hard to go wrong with a piece that coordinates with your ensemble.  We could spend hours on Etsy looking for the perfect fit. We also adore BHLDN.  The sweet, dainty piece below is a crowd pleaser!

Screenshot 2017-08-12 15.25.24

We’re suckers for a thoughtful goodie bag or box too. White Spruce Market here in Minneapolis has the cutest boxed gifts. And they always have great suggestions too.  Stop on by to see and tell ’em we sent you!

Experience

You can’t put a price tag on the gift of time with your closest friends. So, don’t be afraid to gift them with a trip to the spa, a weekend getaway or an exciting excursion. Be it one-on-one with each of the members of your bridal party or as a group, gifting an experience will be remembered for years to come!

Rosetree Weddings | Catherine & Jon’s Radisson Blu Downtown Mpls

Catherine & Jon’s wedding day was colorful and fun, with an endless amount of smiles and laughter from the newlyweds. This pair is a great match and were so great to work with! They held a church wedding and ballroom style reception at the Radisson Blu Downtown Mpls.

The day was all about color- pink, orange, red and yellow. Without the flowers, this look wouldn’t have been nearly as successful! The bouquet florals were a tropical mix of vibrant pink hydrangea, exotic yellow orchids, burgundy peonies, and orange roses.  The reception decor included the same florals, with the addition of red orchids, lime green miniature mums, and fuschia stock.  We have to give a round of applause Luna Vinca Floral for creating such great arrangements. No doubt they were a highlight of the day!

We spent some time obsessing over the cake table as well- the combination of rosette linen and rosette cake was so fun! The pop of color from the fresh flower topper was perfect to tie everything together!
During the reception, the couple took to the dance floor and danced into the night! Although it isn’t shared in the photos below, we have to say we thought the song choice for Father, Daughter dance, “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, was perfection! It’s such a sweet song that embraces the whimsy that life can be. Which, coincidentally, also felt very applicable to the wedding “theme!”
We wish the happy couple all the best! If you want to find some behind the scenes images from the couple, check out their hashtag, #wecanchen!

Rosetree Weddings | Lindsay & Shane’s Lafayette Club Wedding

Lindsay & Shane’s wedding on a beautiful Spring afternoon over Memorial Day weekend. They held a traditional Christian ceremony at  Redeemer Lutheran Church and a timeless reception at Lafayette Club

Before the ceremony, the couple had a moving “first touch”- where they held hands and before the walk down the aisle.  We adore this idea.  They then said their “I Do” with an exquisite again the church’s stained-glass and stone altar.

Lindsay’s dress was stunning! It was elegant, glamorous and ultra feminine.  The low back and fitted embellished bodice paired with the soft tulle skirt was breathtaking! You could tell how beautiful she felt in the gown and Shane was blown away by how phenomenal she looked!

Her bouquet was a lovely mix of garden & traditional roses, babies breath, stock, eucalyptus and dusty miller. It had great “movement” and paired beautifully with her dress. Her bridesmaids carried similar bouquets with the tiniest hint of peach/blush hue, which really complimented their smokey blue dresses.

We love planning wedding receptions at Lafayette Club.  It’s a beautiful, classic venue with superb service, gorgeous grounds and a fantastic view of Lake Minnetonka! They’ve also been around for over 100 years, which is quite charming.

Minnetonka Beach is only 25(ish) minutes west of downtown Minneapolis. It has a gorgeous landscape and feels so far from the city (while still being convenient).

The decor was neutral, yet romantic and timeless in soft ivory, white, gold, and subtle touches of peach.

The couple danced to the Christian/Gospel song, “Ocean” by Hillsong. The lyrics are so powerful and such a representation for their love for one another, which is also rooted so strongly in their Faith.

We were so happy to see this couple join as Husband and Wife. Every wedding is an honor and we thank them for allowing us the opportunity to serve them during this monumental occasion!

Love what you see? Give us a call- we’d love to help you with your big day! Oh! And we’d love for you to follow us on Instagram too!

Rosetree Wedding Tips & Advice: A Modern Twist on the Bouquet Toss Wedding Tradition

For this segment of our new Modern Twist series, let’s talk about the bouquet toss!

BloomLakeBarnWedding_8793

You may already know that it is “tradition” for single women to gather around the bride during the reception in hopes to catch the bouquet … signifying she will be the next lucky lady to tie to knot. This goes hand and hand with the /garter toss, as the single men gather to catch the garter, and then the two lucky individuals have a bit of rendezvous while he places the garter on the bouquet recipient’s leg. It’s not uncommon or unusual for couples to do away with this game during the reception (we’ve actually seen a rise in the number of couples who do away with this and the $1 dance).

If you’re worried about being tight for time, or are opting for a four hour reception (instead of five), the bouquet and garter toss, as well as the dollar dances, shoe game, etc can sometimes feel like an “interruption” if you have a guest list that really wants to mingle & party. If you’re searching for validation to switch things up- here it is. It’s A-OK with us!

However, some couples like the idea of tossing, but either feel it isn’t appropriate for their guest list or feel like it’s an outdated tradition. Hey, it’s your day, we’ll support your choice either way. But say you DO want to toss the bouquet, but need to mix it up a bit to make it feel right to you. Here are a couple of fantastic alternatives (especially if you don’t have many single friends).

Consider tossing the bouquet to married friends. Gather all of the ladies in your life that have already tied the knot and give them the chance to remember what it was like to hold a bouquet. Omit the garter toss all together. Allow the winning couple to share a dance (bonus points if they can pick the song.)

Song suggestions:

  • “Better Together”  -Jack Johnson
  • “You & Me” – Dave Matthews Band
  • “How Sweet it Is (to be loved by you)”

Consider tossing the bouquet to the children at your wedding. All attendees under, say, 15, gather on the dance floor to catch the flowers. They’ll feel like a princess!

Song suggestions:

  • “Happy” – Pharell
  • “ABC” – The Jackson 5
  • “Kids” – MGMT

Consider gathering ALL of the ladies and tossing in honor of love.  Everyone loves fresh blooms, so this is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser. Why exclude anyone? From your mom to your niece to your high school best friend, get them ALL on the dance floor and toss with abandon.

Song suggestions:

  • “Over the Rainbow” – Israel Kamakawiwoʻole
  • “Shake it Off“ – Taylor Swift
  • “Just Another Day in Paradise” – Phil Vassar
  • “Everything She Does in Magic” –  The Police

Consider carefully choosing a member of your guest list to dedicate your bouquet too. Perhaps your mom never had the wedding she dreamed of. Or your Aunt is like a second mother to you. Or your grandmother who has been a shining example of resilience & dedication. Whatever the sentiment is, it will be thoughtful, memorable and unexpected.

Select a song that has special sentiment to the recipient. Have it play for a few moments before taking over the mic and announcing who gets the bouquet and why.

For the garter toss, you can apply these same ideas. Or just omit it all together!

As always, we’re happy to talk through ideas with you on this (and all of the other pressing wedding details that keep you up at night) and your DJ/Band may have some thoughts as well.

Rosetree Events | The Lumber Exchange Knot Pro Minnesota Mixer

There is something about a slight hint of warmth in the air, blossoming trees, the freshness of a new season moving in that makes us feel happy. That spring in our step and joy we feel for the Spring season was the inspiration for the decor/design for The Knot Pro Minneapolis mixer we recently planned. Bold, cheerful, colorful hues married with soft romance and industrial chic whimsy. It was a lot to pack into one design, but it worked!

The color palette really set the tone for all of the incredible details. From the incredible florals to the gorgeous linens, and the divine desserts, everything coordinated beautifully!  The linens were remarkable alone, as were the florals. Paired, they were stunning!  The menu was delicious from start to finish!

Because spring is synonymous with floral, it was the basis for most of the design. And not just flowers, but in the paper goods to the linen choice, we found a way to incorporate spring flowers in almost every single detail.

We had two separate spaces to design within the venue – Studio C Floral helped us with Sawyer’s Room, while St. Cloud Floral handled Dylan’s Room.

For the main space, Sawyer’s Room, we selected bold linens as one of our main anchor elements. We wanted something with a lot of wow factor- so it was all about a trio of color that could be tied together within a pattern, but also a texture. We opted for a bold floral print on high tops interspersed with a bright yellow. And then a petal texture linen in a soft blush pink and bold fuchsia.

The florals were out of this world! In the wedding world, most of us know that Peonies only come around (in all of their full glory) late in the Spring season. So we knew we needed this lush bloom within the centerpieces.  But it was better than our wildest dreams to see the actual designs!

There were so many gorgeous pieces created – the variety in blooms, as well as the texture, was awe-inspiring. From the tall greenery with hanging votives to the exquisite (and massive) pastel pieces. It was cheerful, yet romantic. Elegant, yet cozy. It was everything we love about Spring!

Dylan’s room was a bit more of a marriage between Whimsy + Kate Spade- but still inspired by Spring, albeit a slightly more tropical one than are blessed to see in Mpls.

Centerpieces were more restrained but still really beautiful & exotic. With unique floral choices like sunset protea, lady’s slipper orchids and parrot tulips, they made a big statement.

Our vendor team was amazing. Everyone was so great to work with and we are so grateful for them. Bringing a vision to life is hard work for our couples. But when it’s fellow industry pros, the pressure is ON! Everyone handled it beautifully and really went above and beyond.

Garden In the City Wedding Inspiration, as seen on Perfect Palette

This Garden in the City wedding inspiration photo shoot is pure romance. Inspired by the Most Beautiful Castle in Scottland (and Childhood Home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother),  The Clamis, we were aiming for a look that was dreamy and fresh. Springy and feminine, with a European countryside twist.

If you follow our blog & Instagram, you likely already know we have a soft spot for European inspired design.  And Shabby Chic is one of our favorite design inspiration styles. So this shoot was, without a doubt, one of our favorites of the year!

Muse was the perfect host venue for the shoot because it has a romantic chic vibe but is nestled right downtown, making it really convenient.

What really “made” this shoot, aside from the amazing floral, was the dress! With a slightly vintage flair, this lace, pearl embellished, low-back ivory ballgown is everything. There are almost no words to describe just how gorgeous it is. The White Room has incredible gowns, and this one truly fit the overall style beyond our wildest dreams. We love classic styles with a fresh twist – and somehow this gown was able to marry a timeless silhouette, with a unique, modern take on something typically seen as vintage.  We know, that’s a mouthful. In short, it’s a dynamic gown with all the right touches for a modern-day princess!

The invitation suite and florals were a perfect match! Bel Fiore used the design from A Milestone Paper Co. as their inspiration. We weren’t in the slightest bit surprised that they were able to pull off the look to a T! The soft purple tones are gorgeous and the greenery is fabulous. And the wall treatment? Swoon! The bouquet was a lovely mix of exotic “English garden” florals- the texture was exquisite.

We also can’t forget to note the bite-size delights provided by Mintahoe and Farina Bake Shop. They both did such an amazing job incorporating these floral details and color theme. It was pure artistry on both of their parts!

We hope you find these photos as wonderful as we do! Oh and be sure to check out the Perfect Palette Editorial Feature here too!

Rosetree Weddings | Emily & Paul’s Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Wedding

It’s throw back time! Almost exactly one year ago, Emily & Paul held their wedding day at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory- a truly unique venue in St. Paul.

The couple selected a bold, dramatic color combination of red & black, with touches of white.  Her bridesmaids wore either short red cocktail style one shoulder dresses or a bold floral print full-length dress. The combination was striking! Emily’s dress was a stunning drop-waist lace and tulle low-back gown that looked so beautiful on her. She paired it with a cascading bouquet of red orchids, white peonies, and assorted lilies.

The duo’s ceremony was in the Sunken Garden (inside the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory)- a really spectacular, picturesque space ideal for the nature lover that wants an intimate option.

Following Emily & Paul’s intimate ceremony, was their reception at the Bullard Rainforest Auditorium. Which provides spectacular views of the Como Zoo grounds and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory tower gardens. It also has an adjoining terrace great for soaking in the sweeping views of the gorgeous grounds.

In addition to the ceremony guests, the reception was also attended by an adorable penguin (unexpected & much welcomed perk of getting married at a zoo)!

Decor was simple black and white, with the focus on laid-back fun and the venue’s naturally beautiful view.

It was a wonderful celebration and we’re thrilled for the couple!

Bride and groom with horse at Red Barn Farm Wedding

Rosetree Weddings | Sam & Joe’s Red Barn Farm Jewish Wedding

Sam & Joe hosted a lovely Jewish wedding at Red Barn Farm in Northfield. The day was full of thoughtful, quirky details and a subtle vintage theme. With a beautiful soft mint and blush color palette, it was a great summer wedding combination.

The couple’s birchwood Chuppah wasn’t just decorated with lush florals and beautiful sheer fabric. But also of photos of those that couldn’t be with them on the wedding day- including their feline fur baby.

The ceremony included traditional Jewish elements- the Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) & the breaking of the glass (always so fun to watch).

The newlyweds enjoyed a portion of the cocktail hour with guests since they opted for a first look and family photos prior to the ceremony.

All of the florals were absolutely gorgeous. Large garden-style bouquets were made with copious greenery and lush white + blush blooms. They looked so lovely with the soft mint bridesmaids dresses and Sam’s lace gown (with a blush underlay).

For the reception, tables were decorated with bud vases overflowing with greenery and single stems. Each place setting had a uniquely patterned vintage plate- which tied in not just color, but theme (since Red Barn Farm actually touts itself as a vintage inspired venue).

The head table was adorned with a lovely ivory sequin lace linen and had a beautiful floral & greenery garland backdrop.

Sam & Joe are just a touch quirky (and adorable), so the first dance mash-up of Etta James and Walk the Moon was perfect for them.

Their menu was delicious! For cocktail hour, guests were served brick oven baked baguettes with two spreads (Basil pesto; brick oven roasted marinara) and Meatballs. For dinner, a buffet of Spring salad w/ crumbly goat cheese,  brick oven pizza with chicken breasts, roasted garden vegetables & Mediterranean orzo pasta.

We loved their adorable (and clever) jam jar favors and how they ended the night with late night munchies and s’mores (you can never go wrong with this combination)!

Sam & Joe were a great couple to work with and we had so much fun working with them! It was a blessing to welcome them to the Rosetree family and we can’t wait to see where life takes them!

Rosetree Weddings | Dana & Christopher’s Day Block Event Center Wedding

Dana & Christopher’s fall wedding at Day Block Event Center is what we would call eclectic elegance.  It was a beautiful mix of traditional fall elements (mainly from the color combination), with a few rustic tie-ins and an industrial-style venue.

Day Block Event Center has gorgeous exposed brick, lots of natural light and high ceilings. It’s a great space that we love working with.

The color combination of the day was a lovely mix of peach, blush, burgundy and greenery.  It is SO pretty!

Dana’s bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in complimenting styled of a smokey blue, blush and burgundy.

Bouquets and centerpiece arrangements were crafted with lots of dinnerplate dahlias, stock, and a variety of roses. The floral installation for the ceremony was incredible! It had lush greenery garland with floral accents in the blush and burgundy tones. It was a stunning creation that defined the altar and acted as a statement piece.

They had quite a few personal details, but we have two favorites. The first was the adorable table names/numbers! Each table was actually named after a state or location that the couple had a personal connection to.  Small wood cutouts were positioned next to a card that told the guests what the significance of that location was. It was a great touch. It also tied in beautifully with the wood slabs that were beneath the centerpieces.

Our second favorite was the cake made of cheese! If you follow our blog, you know that this something that we love to see! It’s a great alternative & statement piece. And of course, it pairs beautifully with wine, fruit and other sweet treats.  The couple opted to also include cupcakes and a traditional cake with their overall menu.

Be sure to check out Marc’s blog too!

Rosetree Weddings | Chankaska Winery Wedding, Brian & Lara

Brian & Lara’s rustic countryside wedding at the Chankaska Winery was lovely and love-filled! As for Fall Weddings, we couldn’t have asked for better- the weather was a dream come true!

The design for the day was inspired by the natural beauty of the winery -subtle rustic details, paired with a fall color scheme. Chankaska’s landscape is so beautiful already; it doesn’t take much to dress it up!

The florals included some of Fall’s best; corally-pink dahlias, huge sunflowers (the bride’s favorite), red hypericum berries, coral spray roses, eucalyptus greenery and a touch of burlap.

The ceremony, officiated by the bride’s brother,  was held outside, beneath a canopy of trees. The rustic arbor was flanked by large wine barrels and beautiful tall fall floral arrangements.

The tented reception kept guests protected from the elements, but they brought the outside in with the wood elements in the ceiling treatment and the centerpieces. The tree trunk discs at the base of each centerpiece anchored the design. Tables alternated between florals in rustic vases, wooden lanterns and glass vases filled with a variety of branches.

Guests (who all happened to be from out of town) were treated to a delicious meal and a nice, hearty dessert display. And each place setting included a Cliff bar as a favor- a favorite of the couple and just plain good!  Ladies also had a beautiful scarf at their chair, while the men had wine stoppers (tying into the theme, of course).

We love countryside weddings and are so grateful to have been part of Brian & Lara’s day! They were so sweet and wonderful to work with!
